Manufacturing Day-Livingston
Manufacturing Day addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show what manufacturing is...and what it isn't. This national day brings young people and local instructors into facilities in order to explore career options and learn more about local manufacturers. Companies may commit to various ways to get involved in the event including hosting a field trip/open house where students explore their facilities, sponsoring lunch, transportation or "swag" or setting up exhibits during the day. By working together during/after Manufacturing Day, manufacturers address the skilled labor shortages they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.
Area manufacturers in Livingston County will open their doors to local high school students to explore rewarding careers and education opportunities within the manufacturing sector. Participating businesses and educators include Mott Community College, Thai Summit, Hatch Stamping, Flexible Metals, TG Fluids, Bechum, Kem Krest, Meritor and Ravago Manufacturing Americas. Participating schools include Brighton, Pinckney, Whitmore Lake, Howell, Hartland, Fowlerville and Flex Tech. The day includes transportation to/from school, open houses and hands-on demontrations. Lunch and snacks will be provided and Manufacturing Day t-shirts will be given out.
