Winter STEM Olympics – Kensington Metropark
In celebration of the opening of the 23rd Winter Olympic Games this year, we are holding our own Winter STEM Olympics! Come out and participate in various STEM Adventures to “Do Your Best” in showing the Olympic Spirit while Scouting! This is an open event so bring friends and family to enjoy the day. NOVA Counselors and Metropark specialists will also be leading STEM activities so Scouts can achieve the NOVA.
Cardboard Sled Racing
The area’s premier Cardboard Sled Race is set to take place on February 10 at Kensington Metropark.
The race is open to anyone – individuals, families, corporate teams – who want to put their engineering skills to the test. The sleds will take to the race course at 1 p.m. and snow is guaranteed thanks to two snow making machines at Kensington that will be on standby should Mother Nature decide to have a meltdown.
“We want everyone of all ages to join us for what we hope will become an annual celebration of winter and the many outdoor activities available,” said Eric Suender, event organizer and STEM Executive with the Boy Scouts Michigan Crossroads Council. “We know there will be some very creative sleds cruising down the hills at Kensington.”
