Brighton Fine Art & Acoustic Music Festival
Main Street – Downtown Brighton
AUGUST 4 – AUGUST 6, 2017
PRESENTED BY:
Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce and Champion Automotive Group
The Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce and Champion Automotive Group will host the 34th Annual Brighton Fine Art & Acoustic Music Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, AUGUST 4 – AUGUST 6, 2017 in beautiful downtown Brighton. This highly interactive art show, one of the most recognized juried art festivals in southeast Michigan, draws from the best of the best - featuring both local and national award winning artists. Over 30,000 art enthusiasts visit the festival each year to support the arts in our community, savor local restaurant fare and listen to an eclectic mix of live acoustic music on four separate Main Street stages. A walk down Main Street will inspire you with plenty of unique art infused activities for both the young and young at heart. Brighton Fine Arts does its best to create a three-part harmony - art, music and atmosphere – the perfect complement to any weekend plans! Art enthusiasts and collectors can speak one-on-one with artisans about their original works in glass, watercolor, oils, sculpture, photography, pottery, jewelry, woodcarvings and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to watch up close as many artists on hand will demonstrate their unique talents live.
BRIGHTON AFTER DARK – A NEW-er LIVE MUSIC VENUE!!! Brighton Fine Arts will again be bringing a hip new band to downtown Brighton for one night only on Saturday, August 5th. This newest music stage, moved to the Ciao Amici Restaurant parking lot in 2017 and tagged as Brighton After Dark, will feature The Corktown Popes. Founded in early 2010, The Corktown Popes set out to create something familiar, yet unique. They began by seeking out talented musicians with a penchant for energetic live performances and a strong Caledonian soul.
Their fans are quick to say “they are not a Celtic band and not a rock band, but have been accused of being both”. They have been featured on WDIV Channel 4 and are known for being both hip and energetic. They will definitely leave you wanting more.
Gates open at 7:00pm with music starting at 8:00pm. Wristbands are just $5, beer and wine also $5(with a “finer” wine option at just $10!).
Here is what others are saying about The Corktown Popes: “I've covered my wife's favorite local band, The Corktown Popes, before. This eclectic group of veteran Detroit rockers continues to make outstanding music that defies conventional boundaries of genre. Sure...they're got an Irish voiced lead singer...but they're a Detroit Rock band, right? ...with an accordion, which makes them a Tex/Mex Tejano band, right? ...and a mandolin which makes them country/roots band, right? ...and uileann pipes (they're NOT bagpipes) and we're back to Irish band? Whatever they are, they are tremendous performers and wildly popular, so, with a second album--The Body and the Blood--ready for release, the band booked the Magic Bag in Ferndale, invited some friends to share the stage with them and promptly filled the joint with their loyal fans. My wife and I met some friends there for an evening of live, local music and had a great time.” - John P. Bayerl, PhD
